BIOGRAPHY
I am a West London born and bred journalist, photographer and broadcaster. I was born to a Mauritian father and an Irish mother in Shepherds Bush - and my early life experiences have dramatically shaped my outlook on life. I specialise in social housing investigations, exiting gangs strategies, grooming, trafficking, exploitation, prison and rehabilitation. I have also written on mental health, domestic violence, race and equality. I enjoy undercover, investigative work. I work well with 'difficult to access' communities and I have a rare ability to get people to open up from their hearts. My ability to build relationships, dig deeper and influence people to speak has allowed me to produce several breakthrough pieces of work to date. I am an excellent researcher, who enjoys ferreting out interesting stories and original ideas for features. Currently I am covering the Grenfell Public Inquiry for Housing Quality Magazine (HQM). I am also producing podcasts with Grenfell bereaved and survivors for HQM and news stories for Portobello Radio station. I used to work inhouse at the Big Issue and other freelance print clients have included Inside Housing, the Sun, the Metro, Vice and Marie Claire. Broadcast clients have included ITV News and Current TV. Follow me on twitter @danielleaumord for tweets and opinions - and/ or instagram @danielleaumord for my photograohy work.
